Story
Remembering Her Legacy
Jane Holbird Primrose, 87, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, in Dallas, TX after a brief illness, in the presence of her four children. She was born on March 22, 1937, in Enid Oklahoma to James Roy and Anna Mae Holbird. Jane loved and was greatly loved by her family and many lifelong friends. She was a loving mother and was "all in" on her children's many activities growing up and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a special caring lady with an infectious laugh and a warm smile. She treated others with grace and care. She understood that we each have a hope and a future beyond this broken world. Her departing words were "live a meaningful life."
Jane is survived by her four children, John Primrose and his wife Lisa, Ann Silva and her husband Bobby, Nancy Brown and Cindy Tindall as well as her grandchildren, Katie Primrose, Parker Primrose and wife Sarah, Taylor Silva, Caroline Silva McCrea and husband Caleb, Lucy Silva, Charlie Silva, Merrick Brown and wife Hailey, Jack Brown, Ryer Brown, Preston Maxwell and wife Savannah, and Braden Tindall, and her great-grandchildren Maria McCrea, Easton Maxwell and Jones McCrea. She is also survived by her brother John Holbird and his wife Virginia and daughter Jennifer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jimmy Holbird.
Jane was born in Enid, OK, but spent her early years in Midwest City, OK. She was a clarinet player in the Kilte Marching Band and graduated from Midwest City High School in 1955.
After high school, she attended the University of Oklahoma. She majored in Home Economics and joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. After marrying Ben Primrose, they had a son, identical twin daughters and a third daughter. Through her children's growing up years, she volunteered heavily in all her children's activities from Boy Scouts to Campfire Girls to sports teams to Lambda Chi fraternity and Theta mom's clubs. Her children always felt loved, accepted and that she was never in a hurry.
Jane worked in the fashion industry as a buyer's assistant in Oklahoma City at Rothchild's and after raising her children she settled into a job she loved at the Oklahoma State Capitol. There she served as a secretary in the office of Enrolling and Engrossing for 10 years. She volunteered in the community with the Assistance League, PEO, and served on the Board of Norman Municipal Hospital.
Throughout Jane's adult life she loved spending time with family. She also loved to travel and was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and attended Park Cities Baptist Church. She enjoyed hosting, entertaining, encouraging and passing along updates to her kids per "the weather channel".
Jane had 87 relatively healthy years and was kind and generous to all. She was thoughtful and spread God's word through her thoughts, words and deeds as a godly woman. She said, "I've outlived myself", and did not want to go back in the hospital, and said hospice was a wise choice. Her children were by her side when she peacefully passed from this earthly life into her eternal life in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A private memorial service was chosen by her children to both grieve her loss and celebrate her homegoing.
